Kindred’s 2014 Ministry Update

As many of you are aware, we here at Kindred have been doing some real soul searching and God seeking over the past month. We have been wrestling with our purpose and calling as a ministry for quite some time now and have been trying to figure out just exactly what God wants for us to do to be the most effective in all we do. As we sat down and just spent time listening, I think God was finally giving us some direction in the way that we should go.

First, he told us that we were trying to make ourselves to be bigger than we really are. As of right now, Kindred consists of my wife and I, with the occasional help from one or two other friends here and there as they saw fit. God was telling me, that though you have big dreams for the future of Kindred, in order for you to get there you have to start small and realize that you can’t do it all on your own. Don’t promise grandiose concerts and events if you don’t have the means or the help to accomplish it.
So, I asked God, then what should we do differently? He said, your primary focus is should be on helping local artists and bands. Be a resource to them to help them in concert promotions, CD reviews, or getting their name out to a bigger audience of people. By doing this, you are still effectively reaching the community, and being a light through partnering with them.

Second, God said that if you’re ever going to grow, you need to do things the right way. This year, we are going to research and invest in becoming a legit ministry. Filing all the government papers and doing all the legal elements to make Kindred official. This includes trying to build a brand new website and working on marketing and advertising strategies to gain more interest in what we are doing in the community.

Finally, I believe that God wants us to partner with a few local churches to create a monthly worship night for kids, teenagers and young adults. God said that he wants me to use the contacts that I have with the local artists to bring a new and exciting approach to worship and ministry in community. God said that if I am faithful to this that we could see a youth revival in this area that we haven’t seen in a long time. Please keep this idea in prayer, as it is a very big undertaking and will take a lot of community support to accomplish.

We are so thank for all of you who have believed in us, supported us and saw our vision. We hope that you have been blessed and will continue to be blessed by what Kindred has to offer. Please spread the word about our ministry to others. If you like what we do and are about, it’s most likely a friend of yours would like us too. Second, please pray about how you might be able to help us, whether it be helping with the facebook and webpage development, reaching out to local artists and bands, or even donating money, every little bit helps and we can’t do it alone. Finally, please keep us in your prayers as we continue to strive to be obedient to God’s call to serve the tri-state area. Thanks once again for your time and support. We hope 2014 is the beginning of amazing things!

Blessings in Christ,
Tim Ewing
