Dez Childs Heart Cry

It doesn’t take long upon listening to the music of Dez Childs, to see that she is not only a very blessed and talented singer, but a songwriter and musician as well. Growing with family immersed in music and the music industry, you would think that being as good as she is came naturally and effortlessly; But upon closer examination, we learned that it wasn’t until her sixteenth birthday that she began to really study and focus on her vocal ability, musicianship and performance. Though, she never considered herself to be a singer or songwriter, you could regularly find her leading worship or singing in church or youth group. Her heart was for reaching the lost and sharing the love that God had given her with others. Though she didn’t realize it at the time, God was preparing her for a musical journey that not only challenged her faith, but stretched her musical ability as well.  From this journey “Heart Cry” was born.

“Heart Cry” takes you on a journey that shares an incredibly honest and real portrayal of struggle through heartache and bad choices Dez has made through her life and how through theses struggles she found redemption and restoration through faith in Jesus Christ. Dez lays everything out in the open for all to see as she invites you to take a personal look into her heart and soul as she shows you what it’s really like to daily be a believer and follower of Christ. Covering topics such as anger, loneliness and fear (Layer by Layer), to sadness, pain and feeling forgotten (Father Song), to the redemption (Now I Can Sleep Tonight), repentance (You Never Leave), love (Created), and continuous pursuit of God for us despite or constant sin and falling short (Running out of Time), there is something you can relate to no matter where you are in your spiritual journey of faith.

Overall, this CD is a wonderful debut for Dez. Combining elements of contemporary and rock music, with a hint of country and folk, Dez’s music is something any music lover can appreciate. For me the highlight songs on this CD include: Created, Don’t Belong, Running out of Time, and Waiting For You, but I would encourage you to take a listen for yourself and see what you like best. If you are a fan of Francesca Batistelli, Carolyn Arends, Erin O’Donnell or Jamie Jamgochian, you’ll love Dez Childs.
