When I was a child there was a song my mom sang over me every night before I went to bed. It went like this, “All night, all day, Angels watching over me, my Lord. All night, all day, Angels watching over me.” As a little boy, I was enchanted by angels. I was fascinated with Michael with his great wings and flaming sword. I marveled when I learned of pastel-winged Gabriel standing in the presence of the Lord. I loved hearing stories of protection of Daniel in the lion’s den, Shadrach Meshach and Abednego protected in the fiery furnace, the angel appearing to Mary, and the list goes on and on. Everywhere I went, I listened expectantly, and sometimes I even heard the rustle of wings. ‘’ To this very day I still believe that angels walk with us and daily watch over our lives.

God’s angels are amazing! They are His heavenly host and are used by Him in very important ways. They are alert, attentive to God’s voice, and faithful to do His will. God tells us that we have an innumerable company of angels. Although it is not written that one angel is assigned to each of us, it is clear that our Heavenly Father sends us an angel when we need one! For it is written: He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways (Psalm 91:11) And He has given them charge over us to protect us from accidents, natural disasters, terrorist bombings and other dangers.

Now, I don’t know what you truly think about angels, but I like that angels are sent to serve those who are saved. I don’t know what form that takes, but I must admit I have sometimes been in some unpleasant situations and serious accidents where I thanked God for watching over me, as well as my family and friends. So today through this devotional I am grateful to God that He provides angels to watch over me and my family. I’m thankful that He gives them to me to help protect and help me in my time of trouble.

So if you feel alone or afraid, or if you’re ever in a situation that seems impossible, take courage because what the word of God teaches me today is that even in the worse situation, the plan of the enemy will not prevail. When we choose to abide in the tent of the Lord and make His will our covering we will be kept. So don’t fear these things and lock yourself at home. Believe that God loves you, and thank Him for His angels who walk with you and watch over you and keep you safe!
