Dave Pettigrew Solo vol 1Dave Pettigrew Solo vol 2

There’s nothing I love more than an artist who constantly tries to stretch the boundaries of their musicianship and talents. Through creativity, constant writing, rewriting and refining, they create music that is not only incredibly precise and defined, but in the process change the way a song is produced and listened to. This is exactly what Dave Pettigrew has with his newest projects Solo Volumes 1 and 2.

Despite being labeled as CCM’s top 20 up and coming star in the industry, being featured on numerous national radio stations, and performing for some of the biggest names in Christian Music, Dave is still one of the best kept secret in the tri-state area. However, it’s my hopes that after this review, that you too would see just how amazing and talented Dave Pettigrew truly is.

Solo Volume 1 and 2 are collection of songs re-recorded by Dave on the piano. stripped down, intimate acoustic versions of songs from the first 3 cd’s “Somebody I’m Supposed To Be”, “Every Minute Miracles” and “The Walk” along with two of his favorite hymns “It is Well” and “How Great Thou Art.”  With just one listen to any one of these fourteen tracks, you will instantly see the passion, the heart, emotion and the love for the music and for the God he is singing about.  And what I find most amazing about these two CD’s is that the more simplistic the approach, the more effective Dave is at capturing the raw emotion of the original intention of each song.

Though each song is amazing in its own unique way, I must highly recommend you take a listen to “Closer To You”,” All I Need Is You,” “Change (Follow Me)”, “Hallelujah”, “Proof Of Your Love”, and “It Is Well” first before listening to the rest of the songs on theses CD’s. As I listened to both CD’s these songs stood out and really touched my heart in a way it’s never been touched before. In these songs, Dave’s heart, soul and personal emotion scream through each note, and chord played.  Then, as I continued to listen to the remainder of the songs, I found myself brought to the throne room of God as the songs not only uplifted my soul, but took me though an element of worship, I’ve never experienced before.

It’s my hope that your journey through these songs is similar to mine. For, I truly believe that this CD has the power to encourage, uplift and transform your thoughts on God and worship in a way you might not have every thought about before.  I would highly recommend you take a listen and see for yourself, just how amazingly beautiful this CD truly is.
